In the world of nutrition and health, there are mixed views on caffeine and, in particular, the good, old-fashioned cup of coffee. There is a host of coffee alternatives on the market - some good and some not so good. Over the years, I have tried many different types and brands.

Coffee is not just a morning ritual, it can also offers several health benefits if you are choosing the right brand and type. My go-to is always organic coffee, where possible and I am very fussy about the brands that I choose to drink at home.  My two favourites are Exhale Coffee and London Noo-tropics (packed full of medicinal mushrooms Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane and Chaga).  I have included a discount code below for London Noo-tropics and a promo code for 50% off your first order from Exhale Coffee. Both are a great way to try these brands and save money also.  Here  are some of the benefits of why I choose these brands:

  1. Boosts Energy Levels: Coffee contains caffeine, a natural stimulant that can increase energy levels (however, I don’t recommend using it as a stimulant when you feel stressed or overly fatigued)

  2. Improves Physical Performance: Caffeine in coffee can enhance physical performance by increasing adrenaline levels and releasing fatty acids from fat tissues. Be cautious about using it before a workout as caffeine can stimulate the bowel quickly.

  3. Contains Essential Nutrients: Coffee provides essential nutrients such as vitamins B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), and B5 (pantothenic acid), as well as manganese and potassium.  Exhale Coffee, in particular, undergoes multiple lab testing to ensure it is packed full of polyphenols (antioxidant compounds – think slowing down ageing) and this brand is 100% mould-free (a big issue in common coffee brands)

  4. Heart Health: Some small studies show that moderate coffee consumption (1-2 cups maximum per day) is linked to a lower risk of heart disease and stroke

While good quality and organic coffee has health benefits, it's important to consume it in moderation. Excessive caffeine intake can lead to side effects such as anxiety, insomnia, and digestive issues. If you are in peri-menopause or menopause, it is important to note the reaction you have to caffeine and try to limit your last cup to 12 noon to avoid impacting your sleep.  If it makes you feel jumpy or wired, then perhaps switch to a coffee alternative such as dandelion coffee, chicory coffee, matcha tea or latte (contains caffeine). Note how you feel without coffee and this will determine if you should remove it completely.

For me, my morning coffee is part of my daily ritual. I set aside time for it every morning.  I make it fresh, I savour it, I enjoy it.  It is much more than just a cup of coffee.  It is a time-out ritual that I enjoy fully.  It represents quiet and reflective time for me to kick-start my day.

Here are the discount promo codes that I promised:

·       Exhale Coffee – you are very welcome to to use the following link to enjoy 50% your first order rc-refer.com/aine-ftxg6k

I would love to hear how you find either of these brands.  London Noo-tropics really blew me away when they first came on the market a few years ago. I use these at home regularly myself and I love them.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend,

Aine
